Introduction week KCB: A great success
This academic year began with an extra week and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (KCB), School of Arts at EhB, seized that opportunity with both hands! With a warm welcome to some 120 new students, coming from all over the world - from Japan to Brazil and from the Netherlands to Cyprus - the tone was immediately set. With our programmes in Music (Classical, Historical & Jazz) Musical Theatre and Abbreviated Educational Programmes in the Arts, the diversity of our offer reflects the international allure of our conservatoire.
To give these new students a warm welcome to their new city and institution, a rich programme was put together. The result was an energetic and promising start, marked by new experiences and valuable encounters.
From encounters to orientation
Casual breakfast
Starting the day with a shared breakfast proved to be the perfect way to break the ice. Here, students met each other and KCB staff members for the first time, which immediately created a convivial and relaxed atmosphere.
Information sessions and guided tours
The new students got a good first impression of the campuses and music venues in Brussels, such as MIM, AB, Bozar and The Music Village, thanks to guided tours by the student council. Info sessions also provided them with the necessary tools, from timetable planning to administrative support.
The first party
The Student Council closed the week festively with the first KCB party of the year! The party took place in one of our atypical concert halls, the Temple, and provided a fantastic opportunity to start the academic year with a bang and make new friendships.
Official welcome ceremony and musical highlights
One of the highlights of the introduction week was the official welcome ceremony. Our director, heads of programmes, the head of research and the student council shared inspiring words, but the musical interpretation stole the show.
Top-notch classical music
The classical section brought us the beautiful Clarinet Trio in A minor, Opus 114 by Johannes Brahms, performed by:
• Clarinet: Tadeja Malc
• Cello: Angelika Rizopoulou
• Piano: Madis Aasalo
Musical theatre talents in the spotlight
Musical theatre students also showed their best side with a riveting performance, led by Inge Minten, with Pietro Ramman at the piano.
• 38 Planes (reprise)
• No Voice (uit Bare)
A Belgian finale
After all the impressive performances, there was a tasty finale: an authentic Belgian fries food cart! This was very much to the liking of both our national and international students and professors.
A start full of opportunities and growth
On Tuesday the 24th of September, classes started. We wish all our students, professors and the administrative and technical staff a fantastic academic year.
Together, let's make it a year full of new musical discoveries and enrichments!
