The beginning of the new year will be celebrated with the swinging, energetic and most of all festive sounds of the Bigband of the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.
The new year’s concert programme will be based on the wonderful American jazz guitarist and composer Pat Metheny. Already in 1975 Pat Metheny was a rising musical star when, at the age of 21, he recorded the successful album ‘Bright Size Life’ with the virtuoso bassist Jaco Pastorius. In 1985 he had a big hit, together with David Bowie, 'This is not America'.
Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays form the heart of the ‘Pat Metheny Group’ which has won 10 Grammy Awards. The KCB-Bigband will be led by Lode Mertens who is a professor of jazz at the conservatoire and a member of the famous Brussels Jazz Orchestra since 1995, for whom he also composes and arranges. Warmly recommended!
