With a Bachelor and Master of the Brussels Conservatoire you are set for an inspiring professional career! If you want to join an international orchestra or end up doing something entirely different with your degree, our programmes are the ideal preparation for a bright future. 

The KCB focusses on the broad artistic formation of each individual. The lessons are based on direct interaction between teacher and student due to the small amount of students in each class. The great number of orchestral productions each year allows us to gain experience on the stage and learn the ins and outs of the greatest pieces is in music history.

Born in 1966 at Namur (Belgium), Nathalie Loriers first gets a classical training but soon she picks up interest in jazz. In 1990 she gets the first price for jazz piano and harmonics at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique in Brussels. 
On a short time notice she succeeds to establish herself as a first rank musician in Belgium jazz. In 1989, she then is only 23 years old, the "Association Belge des Critiques de Jazz" chooses her as "Best talent" in her country. In 1990, she wins the first price proclaiming her as "Best young soloist" at the Brussels Jazz Rally.
At the Igloo label she brings out her first recording in 1991, (under her own name) "Nymphéas" with Kurt van Herck (sax), Philippe Aerts (bass) & Mimi Verderame (drums). With this group she requires the first price at the "Concours des Radios Publiques des Pays de Langue Française (CRLPF)" which includes France, Switzerland and Canada.
In 1992, « the Radio Télévision Belge Francophone (RTBF) » offers her an exclusive program, lasting one hour during which she invited some key figures in Belgium Jazz. Since then she is a regular guest with this broadcasting company, especially in October 1994, when she performed the only jazz concert ever at the Royal Palace, together with Steve Houben. 
March 1999 Nathalie receives the "Belgian's DJANGO D'OR " which gives a new impulse to her career. The year of 2000 starts with another award: She receives the EURO DJANGO, which is quite exceptional in the world of jazz.
Parallel to her career as a musician, Nathalie Loriers teaches the jazz piano since 1994 at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel , as well as in several music academies in the French community of Belgium.

Diederik Wissels

Diederik Wissels

Professor Jazz Piano

Diederik Wissels is a Dutch jazz pianist and composer born on December 6th, 1960, in Rotterdam. He studied Jazz-piano and composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston between 1978 and 1981. In the early years of his career, Wissels performed with prominent jazz musicians such as Joe Henderson, Kenny Wheeler, Philip Catherine,Toots Thielemans and Paolo Fresu. Wissels has collaborated with vocalist David Linx for almost three decades.Awards such as 'choc' and 'choc des chocs' by le Monde ,Django d'Or, Grand prix du Jazz were attributed to their cd's such as "Up Close", "Bandarkah", "Heartland", "This Time", "Whistleblowers". 

Wissels has composed music for films directed by renowned filmmakers, including Nanni Moretti. He has also released several critically acclaimed albums on the Belgian record label Igloo Records. Some of his most notable recordings include "The Hillock Songstress", "From This Day Forward", "Streams", "Song of You", "Pasarela", "Secrecy", and "Yearn". These albums feature a diverse range of musical styles, from traditional jazz to more experimental sounds, and showcase Wissels' musical versatility and innovative approach to jazz piano and jazz composition. His unique style blends improvisation with sophisticated harmonic structures and lyrical melodies, creating a sound that is both innovative and timeless.

Wissels has been teaching Jazz-piano and Jazz-composition aswell as ensemble-playing at Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel since 1992 piano sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of jazz musicians.
