Thomas Van Bogaert @KCB 2025

Alumnus Thomas Van Bogaert followed a classical guitar path at KCB under the guidance of Antigoni Goni. One of his current projects is the rather unconventional ‘Rave Choir’ from Brussels. A few years ago, this group of singers had already grown into a magical closing act for clubs and parties in Ghent. Since this year, they have been rehearsing in the church of Saint-Gilles.

Thomas describes it as a ‘horizontal choir’—open to everyone, with multiple conductors. Participants are encouraged to take initiative. During his studies at KCB, he was inspired by the social dynamics of a choir. In the Rave Choir, this social aspect is further emphasized, as members not only sing classical pieces but also folk songs and their own creations.

“The Rave Choir connects through singing, without barriers and for everyone. – Thomas Van Bogaert

Co-founder Mien Heyvaert also followed a classical path at KCB. She explains that the Rave Choir was born from the idea of ending parties in a unique way.

“We don’t break the magic of the evening but gently guide everyone outside in a serene way.” – Mien Heyvaert

The Rave Choir is gaining popularity in Brussels and beyond. Recently, they performed at Carnaval Sauvage in the Marolles (see photo). According to the founders, many concerts are planned for the spring and summer. So, there’s a good chance you’ll see the Rave Choir in action—if you keep the party going until the late hours, that is!
