Lecture-Performance and Public defense around
'Am Rande Der Nacht - Romantic Symbolism, Unitive Experience, and the Music of Hugo Wolf, Alexander Scriabin, and Claude Debussy.'
The focal point of reflection is the symbol of Night, for it is arguably the central node in the web of symbolic senses and interrelations. In the Romantic view, homogeneity of nocturnal darkness corresponds with the most fundamental, spiritual unity of the world. The grasp of this relation should lead to an experience in which one can personally recognize this metaphysical Wholeness.
In his work, Tomasz Konieczny tries to find out how music might facilitate such a recognition… and how that kind of realization may fit the framework of artistic research.
