Voice

Yu-Cheng was born in Taiwan, Maori. Since her childhood she was surrounded by music and singing. She initially studied at the Taiwan Normal University (Shih Ta) of Taipei, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Considering her interest in Western music, she moved to Europe in 1994 and continued her studies at the 'Conservatoire Municipal du 9ème Arrondissement' in Paris. She started a new program at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with an additional study in chamber music. She obtained her degree in pedagogy at the IMEP of Namur. She conceived her singing career in the National Experimental Choir of Taiwan and performed in Taiwan and the USA. Yu-Cheng is particularly passionate about the classical and romantic repertoire; she acted as First Lady in 'Die Zauberflöte' in Paris under the direction of Anna-Maria Bondi. Since then, there have been performances with various ensembles such as the Chœur de Chambre de Namur, Chapelle des Minimes and Laudantes Consort. She sang soloists in the Opera of Liège, La Monnaie Brussels, and the Saint Michael and Saint Gudula Cathedral Brussels. Recently she sang in the Na'musique Festival and during the Ghent Summer Festival (Arte Vocale).

She still refines her performance: for baroque music she works with Monique Zanetti, for the German song with Helmut Deutsch, Christa Ludwig and Udo Reinemann, and for the lyrical song with Margreet Honig, Sarah Walker and Vera Rósza. Because of her love for the romantic song she is still expanding her repertoire. Yu-Cheng is responsible for the vocals for instrumentalists at the KCB and is also vocal coach of the Choir of the KCB with David De Geest.
