From an early age, Tommy has had a broad interest in different instruments and musical genres, which emphasises his versatility as a musician. He began to develop his musical skills by studying trumpet at the academy with Martin Vansteenkiste, trombone in Antwerp with Benjamin Haemhouts, and in Amsterdam with Ivan Meylemans, and he studied quite a few other instruments and styles autonomously.
A versatile freelancer, Tommy has worked with leading ensembles such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Belgium, L'Orchestre Philharmonique de Liége, The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Antwerp Symphonic Orchestra, Opera Ballet of Flanders, Brussels Philharmonic,...and many others. His expertise extends to various genres and musical styles, and he is active in several chamber music formations, including Belgian Brass, Brass Brass Brass Quintet, and Unit Brass. A former member of the trombone quartet Make it Slide, he has deepened his passion for chamber music. Tommy has also gained experience in the world of brass bands, where he played for several years with Brass band Willebroek on bass tuba and trombone, as well as with Metropole Brass Band on solo euphonium.
In 2004, he passed the audition as trombonist with the Opera Royal de Wallonie, after which he began working as solo trombonist with The Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides from 2006 to the present day. During his time with this orchestra, he performed several solo works and recorded several recordings.
Besides his performing activities, Tommy has also dedicated himself to passing on his knowledge and passion to others. Since 2005, he has been active as a brass teacher at the Academy of Meise, where he shares his expertise with all generations of musicians
