Professor Tuba

Stephan Vanaenrode studied with Jozef Matthessen at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven. He received the First Prizes of euphonium, bass tuba and chamber music, as well as the Higher Diploma tuba.

From 1987 until 2000 he was the first bass tuba at the Koninklijke Militaire Muziekkapel der Belgische Gidsen and since 2000 he fulfils the same function at the Symphony Orechstra of ‘De Munt’.

In February 2007 he was the "alter-ego" of the "L'Uomo dalfore in bocca" (the man with a flower in his mouth), an opera by Luc Brewaeys.

The same Luc Brewaeys dedicated to him the work "Brasstuba", based on excerpts from the opera and soon on the new Belgian Brass CD.

In 2007 he had a tour with Johan Verminnen, armed with euphonium, bass tubas and cimbasso in the production "From Brussels to the World".
