Master Musical as of academic year 2022-2023

As of academic year 2022-2023, the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (KCB) will be offering the master in Musical. A unique course in Flanders which will generate great added value for our graduates and for the musical sector in Flanders.

As of the academic year 2022-2023, the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel will be offering, in addition to the bachelor's degree in Musical Arts, an academic Master's degree of 60 credits. With this master course we want to give students the opportunity to graduate as autonomous, exploring artists who can set up their own projects and offer a response to the current practice of the musical arts.

The bachelor's programme in Musical trains excellent performing musical artists who shine in (inter)national productions. With the master's course we want to go a step further and respond to the need for a parallel circuit in which new visions and conceptual innovation are central. This in turn leads to new performance practices, original home-grown creations or daring adaptations of existing material.

The master's programme also ensures that we keep our musical talents in Flanders. Nowadays, many follow a master's programme abroad after completing their bachelor's at KCB. Abroud a five-year musical programme has already existed for some time. With the bachelor's and master's degrees in Musical, KCB produces many alumni who strengthen the Flemish musical sector.

After Corona, a lot of people want to go back to musicals," says Flemish Minister of Education Ben Weyts. "Now there will also be specialised training in Flanders to prepare musical professionals.
