As of the academic year 2024-2025, the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel welcomes the gambist Lucile Boulanger.
Lucile Boulanger started playing viola da gamba at the age of five and later studied at the Paris Conservatoire. She won several prestigious prizes, including the Bach-Abel Competition in Köthen and the Musica Antiqua Competition in Bruges. A much sought-after chamber music artist, she has played with renowned ensembles and musicians such as Philippe Pierlot, François Lazarevitch and Pygmalion. Her albums, featuring works by Bach, C.P.E. Bach and Forqueray, have received rave reviews. In 2023, she became the first viola player to be nominated for the Victoires de la Musique. Lucile strives to enrich and renew the repertoire for viola da gamba, both through transcriptions and new compositions.
