Professor Ensemble
Lode Mertens, born and bred in Geraardsbergen, was still very young when he took his first music lessons at the local Municipal Music Academy. Having caught the music bug, he enrolled at the Leuven Lemmens Institute aged 14, where he did solfeggio, music theory, harmony and instrument, and graduated with a First Prize in solfeggio. He obtained a Master’s Degree at the Gent Conservatoire in June 1998.
Lode has played with Bert Joris, Serge Plume, Kris Defoort, Dré Pallemaerts, John Ruocco, and many others.
