Historical Trombone

Welcome to the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel!

With a Bachelor and Master of the Brussels Conservatoire you are set for an inspiring professional career! If you want to join an international orchestra or end up doing something entirely different with your degree, our programmes are the ideal preparation for a bright future.

The KCB focusses on the broad artistic formation of each individual. The lessons are based on direct interaction between teacher and student due to the small amount of students in each class. The great number of orchestral productions each year allows us to gain experience on the stage and learn the ins and outs of the greatest pieces is in music history.

Bart Vroomen

Bart Vroomen

Professor Historical Trombone

After his Bachelor studies at the Maastricht Academy of Music, Dutch-Limburg trombonist Bart Vroomen, urged on by teacher Harry Ries, decided to delve into the history of his instrument. This led him to the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where he followed and successfully completed his Master's degree in Historical Trombones under the guidance of Wim Becu. Bart always keeps his ears open for new musical influences and other genres. As a result, he enjoys playing in an 'Egerländer' wind ensemble or Big Band just as much as in a classical symphony orchestra or renaissance ensemble, and allows his music to be enriched by all influences. For some time now, Bart has been happy to put his acquired knowledge and experience to good use as a teacher, and in this capacity he regularly gives workshops and master classes in the field of trombone and chamber music; since September 2021, he has been teaching historical trombones at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and giving masterclasses at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.
