Trombonist Tommy Verschoore joins KCB's teaching team

As of the academic year 2024-2025, the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel welcomes trombonist Tommy Verschoore.

Tommy started playing music at the age of 9 in the music academy of Koekelare, where he took solfège, AMV, instrument (piano, trumpet, flugelhorn, percussion and saxophone) and ensemble. Between 1992 and 1996, Tom ran Kunsthumaniora at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and the Kunsthumaniora van Gent, where he switched from trumpet to Euphonium. In 1996, Tom began his bass tuba studies at the Antwerp Conservatory, where he switched to trombone in early 1997 with Mr Ben Haemhouts (solo trombonist Bamberger Symfoniker). In 1999, Tom went to study at the Amsterdam Conservatory where he took trombone (with Mr Ivan Meylemans) and music pedagogy, successfully completing his studies in 2001. Tom also took master classes with Joe Burnam (Italy), Joseph Alessi (USA), Jürgen van Reijen (Netherlands), Alain Trudel (Canada), Ian Bousfield (England), etc. As a freelancer, Tom works with various orchestras, both in the classical and lighter genres: The Flemish Radio Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Il Novecento, the Vlopera, the Royal Philharmonic of Flanders, the Beethoven Academy, L‘ Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Champ d’ action and Hermes Ensemble, El tattoo del tigre, Gabriel Rios, Spearhead, Michael Franti and various big bands. Tom was a trombonist permanently associated with the Opéra Royal de Wallonie from 2004 tem 2006. Since 2006, he has been trombonist (1st soloist) with the Royal Music Chapel of the Guides, where he has performed several works as soloist. Tom has also been a heavy brass teacher at the Academy of Meise since 2005.
