Lieve Goossens is a passionate musician in different fields: she is soloflutist of the Liège Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, flute professor at Luca School of Arts in Leuven (january-october 2023) and chamber musician in several formations. From the academic year 2023-2024 she will be the new flute professor at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
After studying the flute in the music academy in Lokeren and at the conservatories of Gent and Antwerpen with Marjolijn Vanmechelen, Philippe Benoit and Aldo Baerten, she obtained the ‘Konzertdiplom’ with distinction at the University of Music in Saarbrücken with Prof. Gaby Pas-Van Riet. She followed masterclasses with Emmanuel Pahud, Peter-Lukas Graf, Philippe Bernold, Andrea Lieberknecht and Philippe Boucly.
Lieve is prizewinner of Mozartpreis Wiesbaden (2003, second prize), Gouden Vleugels (2002, with wind quintet Syrinx), Tenuto (1999, first prize) and Axion Classics (1997, first prize for flute and second prize for chamber music). Since september 2005 she is soloflutist of the Liège Philharmonic Orchestra after being Praktikantin and solo piccoloplayer in ‘Staatsorchester Saarbrücken’ from 2002 until 2005.
Lieve is a member of ‘I Solisti’, Belgian Wind Ensemble Antwerp and performs regularly in chamber music formations with colleagues of the orchestra and in orchestras and ensembles as Oxalys, La Monnaie Symphonic Orchestra, Opera Vlaanderen, Symfonie-orkest Vlaanderen etc.
From 2000 until 2002 she was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra. From January 2023 until October 2023 Lieve is flute professor at Luca School of Arts in Leuven, from 2010 until 2021 she was guest professor at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and sinds 2015 she is giving lessons on orchestral excerpts and audition training at the Royal Conservatory in Liège. In october 2023 she will start as flute professor at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels.
Lieve plays on a golden Yamaha flute with a Faulisi headjoint. She is a Yamaha Artist.
