Cathy Vanderstappen, alumna of the musical department, switched to education and theatre after playing various roles with Studio 100, Tabas & Co, De Nieuwe Horizon, Muziektheater Transparant, De Theatercompagnie (NL), Stage Entertainment (DE), the Royal Ballet of Flanders, Disney, Eén and Ketnet.
She started working as a teacher, director, theatre maker and selector at vzw Opendoek. She wrote, adapted, and directed customized youth theatre for various associations, but also provided support in dramaturgy and text analysis. Writing texts for theatre is her greatest passion.
Cathy specialized in movement theatre and physical/vocal Viewpoints - techniques that today leave a clear mark on her work as a theatre maker. Co-creation and dramaturgy became priorities in her work.
Cathy is also very active in education. At the educational umbrella organization OVSG, she guided and supported dance, music, drama, and musical teachers from part-time art education in creating processes. Recently, she has been teaching in the Musical teacher training programme.
She currently works as an acting coach, mainly for children and adolescents in theatre and film, as a voice-over for various animated films, as a drama teacher and, finally, as a guest professor/researcher in the Bachelor and Master of the Musical Department.
